Kurs, ByBi Bee-basic

BeeBasic

This is an introductory course on bees and beekeeping. ByBi invites you to learn about the fascinating life of bees, the significance of pollinating insects for humans, and, most importantly, what it takes to start beekeeping.

BeeBasic is a simple evening course that provides you with the basic knowledge about the fascinating world of bees. We meet at Det Norske Teatret, a lovely venue for an interactive and cosy meeting, on the 29th of February at 18:00. We will cover the themes below but we also encourage you to bring your questions!

  • Life in the beehive: how does it change with seasons
  • The hive community: workers, drones, the queen
  • Swarming: a superorganism’s way of reproducing
  • The hive produce: honey, pollen, royal jelly, wax, and propolis
  • What does it take to become a beekeeper?
  • The difference between honey bees, solitary bees, and bumblebees
  • The significance of pollinators for us humans

There will also be an opportunity to explore the vast range of honey as a culinary product as we will bring with us a variety of different honey from ByBi’s urban beehives.

Come and meet us, take a small step towards understanding the captivating world of bees, and bring your curiosity!

See you soon!
