Have you ever wondered what it’s really like inside a beehive? How do flowers become honey? Or whether beekeeping might be something for you?

ByBi invites you to an inspiring evening at Det Norske Teatret, where you can discover the fascinating world of bees and learn more about what it takes to become a beekeeper.

This informal, interactive introductory course is open to everyone, whether you’re simply curious about bees, want to support pollinators, or are considering keeping bees yourself. Bring all your questions!

During the course, we’ll explore:

  • Life inside the hive: who does what? The queen, workers and drones
  • The queen and her court
  • How bees live through the seasons—and what happens in winter
  • Which flowers and trees provide food for the city’s bees
  • What honey, royal jelly, beeswax and propolis actually are
  • The differences between honey bees, bumblebees and solitary bees
  • Why pollinators matter for people, food production and nature
  • What it takes to become an urban beekeeper

The course will take place at Det Norske Teatret.

You’ll also have the chance to:

  • Taste different honeys from ByBi’s apiaries in Oslo
  • Browse beekeeping books and our own beekeeping guide
  • Talk with experienced beekeepers about how to get started
We hope to see you there!
